Maria Wada is a professional dancer and choreographer based in Los Angeles, California.
She is represented by one of the biggest Dance agencies in the US, Bloc Talent Agency LA.
Maria Wada was born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in Tokyo and Mexico City from the age of 7 to 13. She moved to Mexico City with her family for her Father’s business.
Her experience in Mexico City for 6 years in such a young age made her personality very open to different cultures.
She started dancing when she was 15 on the streets of Tokyo with her friends and she fell in love with dance right away and she knew she wanted to make a career from dance ever since.
Maria began her serious dance training in Music college Tokyo School Of Music -TSM for dance major. She trained in ballet, Jazz, contemporary and hip hop and to continue her training she moved to New York City to join international student visa program -ISVP at Broadway Dance Centre after her graduation from TSM.
In 2009 Maria was selected to be a cast member of annual Monsters of Hip Hop show.
Monsters of hip hop is one of the biggest hip hop dance convention in the US where all the best choreographers in the business teach classes and audition students all over the US to select casts for their annual Monster Show in Los Angeles.
She was signed to a dance agency through Monsters of Hip Hop which leads her to be able to get an artist visa to work in the US.
After her visa was approved she auditioned for Beyonce’s MTV Video Music Awards performance in 2009 and that became her first job in the US.
Maria moved to Los Angeles after and she has worked with numerous artists such as Madonna, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Jason Derulo, Chris Brown and more.
She went on 3 major world tours such as Madonna Rebel Heart tour in 2015-2016, Britney Spears Femme Fatale tour in 2011 and Jason Derulo All Access tour in 2010.
Maria was recently featured in Apple’s Apple watch Series 2 commercial as a principal freestyle dancer.
She has performed in numerous TV shows and Awards shows including Superbowl Half Time Show, MTV Video Music Awards, Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Kids Choice Awards, American Idol, The Voice, America’s Got Talent, X factor and more.
As her career as a choreographer and teacher, She is a faculty member of I Dance Convention which travels all over in Canada, Also TSM and Dance and Actors school Tokyo in Japan.
Maria has been working as a choreographer with Film Director Mathew Cullen who is known for directing Katy Perry’s “California Girls”, “Dark Horse” and “Chain to the Rhythm”.
Her choreography inspiration comes from her love for dance and all her experiences from dance career. Her style of choreography is a fusion of street dance styles like house, waack, vogue, hip hop and contemporary. She is always creating to bring something different and inspire people in positive ways.
